My name is Porter Slayden, and I am graduating as a film production major, and will have a minor in sociology. I plan on going on to work in filmmaking to some capacity, with my main interests being screenwriting along with editing. All my life I have been extremely passionate about storytelling, and the chance to be able to tell my own stories. I have always been a big fan of writing, but through my love for photography, filmmaking, and drawing, I have come to realize that it is the story I love the most, rather than the medium. I try to communicate my own themes, attitudes, and personal experiences through majority of my art, with a lot of my creations - from poetry, to film, to drawing - serving to be a form of catharsis for myself, and a way to look inwards. I have always had a deep attachment with artwork that speaks to me personally, and that can help make me feel understood. I largely hope to replicate this feeling in my own art, and hope that by expressing my own thoughts and emotions I am able to let other people know that they understood as well, whether they know by whom or not. While I ultimately plan on continuing with a path in filmmaking, I also recognize that I have many talents that can be applied to many different mediums, and I'm happy to use this space to share my creations with others. I sincerely hope these creations are as enjoyable to view as they are to create.
